Killswitch Engage are a band I’ve looked up to for many years, as their albums, The End Of Heartache and Alive Or Just Breathing were practically the soundtrack to my years at university.
I know a lot of bands look up to these fellas and what they’ve brought to the rock scene during their time dominating the airwaves with anthems such as My Last Serenade and the title track from End Of Heartache - there’s not a rock club in the country that doesn’t have these lads on their DJ’s play list.
Although I spent most of their set in the press area interviewing other bands, the parts that I didn’t rush out to see were everything I’d expected from them, and as since I saw them last at Brixton Academy, they just seem to have got better and better.
Giving us a whet of songs from their forthcoming self-titled album Killswitch powered over the 75,000 people crammed into Donnington Park like it was something they did every day (well to be fair, they probably do) and the people who I know checked them out seemed very pleased with what was on offer.
I caught up with the band after their set to talk about their new album and plans for 2009, so keep your eyes out for my chat with the lads coming later this week!
