My celeb best mates Trivium headlined the second stage on Sunday, and after seeing them get booed throughout their opening set for Slayer last year, it was nice to finally watch a gig where you didn’t feel like you had to preened you weren’t loving the band (or wanted to marry Matt Heafy.)

Littering their set with their greatest hits as well as a handful from their latest album Shogun, Matt, Paolo, Travis and Corey closed the festival in style with their in your face brand of nu-metal.

I just love the enthusiasm that pours out of the band when they’re live, and the way they shamelessly were their own bands t-shirts throughout, they career about the stage as though they have giant ants in their pants and constantly pump their fists in the air in encouragement for the crowd to get behind the final show of the year on the Download second stage.

Trivium are without a doubt one of the finest rock bands around at the moment, and in my eyes, that performance gave them a lot of respect from people who had been sat on the fence up until now… because no longer are Trivium a band only for teenagers looking for a bandwagon to jump on… they are the leaders of what rock music should become.
