The Cinematics

The Cinematics have been busy boys today, but being the lovely fellows they are, Scott, Larry, Adam and Ross have taken the time out to answer the questions you sent in.

Take a look below and see what they had to say to you, but don't worry if you can't see your question, as there will be more coming throughout the afternoon.

How long had you been going as a band before A Strange Education was released and what advice do you have for those of us who want to form our own bands, i.e me?

Ross, Adam and myself had been playing together for years, in various school bands and suchlike. As The Cinematics, we got signed very quickly and recorded the album within a year. It took a little longer to be released, but that was nothing to do with us. We met Larry later on. My advice would be to find the best musicians you can (even if that means upsetting your friends), get working on writing the best songs you can, work very hard indeed, and don't trust anything anyone says! Scott

Adam: Songs in the Key of Life, by Stevie Wonder

oh, and if you could only take one album between all of you, what would you compromise on? Uli (again, lol)

OK Computer, by Radiohead, would be the best common-ground, I think. Ross

Who is the "red headed elvis" in You Can Dance?

There was a band from Glasgow- well, Aberdeen, originally- named the Needles. Their front man, Dave Dixon, was and is a genius and the world should know his name. I wrote that song as a stream-of-consciousness after watching the Needles supporting a terrible band who are now huge. I remember thinking then that it was a travesty that Dave and his band would never be as big as they deserved to be, while those bloody pretenders that they were supporting would probably have a career simply because they had major-label support. Boys, where do you get your clothes? Loving them...

I picked out most of the clothes for our last photo-shoot from various charity shops in Glasgow.  Scott
