Just a week after The Longsands released their latest single Shut Your Mouth the Newcastle five piece are back with their debut album Meet Me In Spanish City.
Having been a fan of their last single release I was really looking forward to this album and The Longsands really have not disappointed.
Meet Me In Spanish City is a collection of energetic rock and roll tracks and it is not hard to see why everyone is getting excited about this band.
The album is a mix of rock, indie and pop and The Longsands seem comfortable in all of these genres, moving between them with incredible ease.
Worlds Collide is the opening track on the album and it is a song that is packed with catchy hooks as the boys show what they are all about.
Bully is one of the best rock tracks on the album as the guitar solos play as much a part of this song as the vocals do.
Bully is a track that has a real presence, no doubt is sounds great live, and Trevor Cox’s vocals have a real deep richness to them that just brings the song alive.
They turn down the pace with Street and Pavements but it is a powerful track with some great melodies and a fab central vocal.
Shut Your Mouth picks up the pace and this is a song that is just brimming with energy - the catchy chorus is the heart and soul of this track.
Let Love Rain On You is perhaps the stand out track on the album as it is the most reflective track on the album and boy it is a cracker.
It is a track that is just dripping with emotion and it is an incredibly powerful that will show a very different side to this superb band.
Meet Me In Spanish City is one hell of a debut record that really should put The Longsands on the map as it is just quality track after quality track.
It’s clear that The Longsands have been influenced by the guitar bands of the nineties but they have developed a powerful and melodic sound that is very much their own.
Miss this album at your peril!!!
