Newcastle band The Longsands are set to release their new single ‘Worlds Collide’ on September 3rd through Unknown Soldier Records.
‘Worlds Collide’ is the latest serving of anthemic guitar-fuelled rock, taken from the band’s recently released debut album ‘Meet Me In Spanish City’.
Taking inspiration from the likes of The Jam, The Stone Roses and Oasis, ‘Worlds Collide’ showcases the band’s stirring sound. Crammed with melody, musicality, and plenty of hooks ‘Worlds Collide’ is an instantly engaging anthem from The Longsands who are turning out to be one of the most important emerging bands in the UK this year.
Despite not being afraid to wear their rich influences on their sleeve, The Longsands succeed in making a sound that is distinctly their own.
Guitarist Ian Barnes says: "The reaction to the first single and the album have been amazing, at a time where guitar music seems to be struggling we have had plays on national radio and TV and some serious faces in the music world have been sticking their necks out for us.
"We believe this single is even stronger than the last and we are really looking forward to hearing people’s reactions."
Just recently The Longsands were invited to perform onstage with Ocean Colour Scene’s Simon Fowler and Oscar Harrison at The Corbridge Festival. This was a big moment for The Longsands as OCS were one of their major influences when growing up.
The band have toured up and down the country, gaining themselves a legion of loyal fans in the process - including Bruce Foxton of The Jam and Steve White of The Style Council. With their foot-stomping melodies and huge choruses, it’s easy to see why the band excel in the live setting.
A band with their tongue firmly in their collective cheeks, The Longsands decided that creating music wasn’t quite enough for them and recently embarked upon a viral internet campaign that saw them gain exposure across the world.
Dubbed ‘The Longsands Challenges’, the band have challenged sports stars to a series of games - starting with a conker fight against none other than ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson!
The band have also had an egg and spoon race with cricketer Steve Harmison, played darts against Ricky Hatton and paper, scissor, stone with Aston Villas Shay Given!
