As soon as this song began, the shitty mood that I had been harbouring immediately began to float away.
It’s exactly the kind of song I needed to hear after wrestling my suitcase out of a broken bus bay door in the rain for 10 minutes and then dropping it in the giant mud puddle that I was already standing in…
It begins with an up tempo disco like groove and an a clean guitar rhythm on the upbeats which catches your attention and hooks you in right away. The vocals are strong and crystal clear which I love these days, especially because so much new music is so stained with the sound of vocoder effects and auto-tune that people sound more like robots from a 70’s sci-fi movie then singers of a rock band.
It’s got all the elements of a great song in my opinion, it’s got lyrics that make you wonder, “tension and release” as we say in our band, where the use of dynamics and major and minor chords keep the song flowing and from becoming stale, and most importantly it makes me want to put it on repeat for a little while longer until I feel like I’ve really absorbed the everything that this song has to offer.
The musicianship is impressive I’d love to see how they perform this track live, if they can capture the same energy live that they did in the recording then I’ve sure it would make for an exciting show. Hope to hear more from this band!
