Tony Blackburn has always dreamed of having a 'Coronation Street' cameo.
The legendary radio DJ has his heart set on shooting some scenes in the ITV soap's famous fictional pub, the Rovers Return, and Radio 2 DJ Craig Charles - who played Lloyd Mullaney on the show from 2005 to 2015 - is hoping to help Tony achieve his lifelong dream.
Speaking to stand-in host Craig on BBC Radio 2's 'Steve Wright in the Afternoon' show, Tony said: ''It's always been my ambition, I keep on saying it, I've always wanted to have a bit role in 'Coronation Street'.
"I would just love to go into the Rovers Return, just sit there, have a pint in the background and not say anything. But just be a part of it."
The soap has been running since 1960 and has aired close to 10,000 episodes, all of which super-fan Tony has claimed to have seen.
He said: "I've watched every single 'Coronation Street' since it started.
"When I went on holiday recently I was 18 episodes behind and I put a whole day aside to watch them all. I watched 18 and I finished around about 7.15pm and I thought, 'Oh my goodness, there are two more coming on.' So I watched those.
"I must be one of the few people to have watched 20 episodes of 'Coronation Street' back-to-back and enjoyed every one."
Craig has offered to help Tony step onto the cobbles.
He said: "I'm going to have to see if I can make a few phone calls and make your dream come true.
"Get you in the cab office. Just come to the cab office and order a cab."
