Tony Blackburn has "always wanted" a 'Coronation Street' cameo - but he says the producers "aren't interested".
The 79-year-old legendary radio DJ would love to land a part in the ITV soap, but he doesn't want a huge role and would be delighted to just be an extra in the Rovers Return sipping a pint of beer.
He said: "I've always wanted to be in the Rovers Return on 'Corrie'. I don't want a big role.
"I'd be happy to be an extra having a pint of beer in the background.
"But they don't seem to be interested."
Tony admits some of the 'Corrie' cast have even tried to get him a part on the cobbles over the years, but bosses still haven't given him a call.
He said: "I've met a lot of the cast members over the years and some of them have tried to get me on the show to have a little cameo or be in the background.
"But the producers are not particularly interested."
Tony thinks he would be a great fit in Weatherfield because he has watched nearly every episode since the soap began in 1960, and he enjoys the programme's mix of "comedy and drama".
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper's Hot TV column as saying: "I've watched practically every episode since it came on air. I'm really dedicated to it.
"I love the show because it has a great mixture of comedy and drama. I've always been loyal to it."
In 2019, Tony told how he put a whole day aside to catch up with 18 'Corrie' episodes after missing them while on holiday, and he ended up bingeing 20 episodes in one day.
He said at the time: "When I went on holiday recently I was 18 episodes behind and I put a whole day aside to watch them all. I watched 18 and I finished around about 7.15pm and I thought, 'Oh my goodness, there are two more coming on.' So I watched those.
"I must be one of the few people to have watched 20 episodes of 'Coronation Street' back-to-back and enjoyed every one."
