'Strictly Come Dancing' bosses are reportedly set to welcome back contestants over the age of 60 for the upcoming series.

The most recent edition of the hit BBC One show featured a line-up of mostly younger contestants due to the risks posed by the coronavirus pandemic and 'Strictly' bosses have urged cast members to get vaccinated against the disease as soon as possible so older stars can return to the dance floor and follow iconic appearances from the likes of Ann Widdecombe and John Sergeant.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Last year's ban was a shame to some of the older hopefuls desperate to take part.
"Now the seniors are being welcomed back with open arms, which is great news for viewers who like watching showbiz veterans have a go."
The insider added: "Last year was seen as a triumph to get the show away under a Covid secure set.
"Bosses now have everything in place if necessary, but they're hoping a lot of the rules will have been relaxed and will be encouraging everyone to get the jab."
Fans are also set to be allowed back in when 'Strictly' returns in September after last year's series was filmed without an audience due to coronavirus restrictions.
A source said: "The rough plans for the series are starting to come together, and that includes getting the show’s most important ingredient back in - the audience.
"Producers hope that by the last week of September, when the first live show is pencilled in, Covid restrictions will have been lifted and they’ll be able to get as many fans into Elstree as possible.
"There might be some social distancing, but it will give the show a lift, having had just cast and crew present in 2020."
