Alan Carr is worried he'd be compared to Ann Widdecombe on 'Strictly Come Dancing'.
The 45-year-old comedian is rumoured to be on BBC bosses' wish list for the upcoming series as the show could feature its first all-male partnership, but Alan admitted he's concerned he could end up being the 'joke act'.
Speaking to David Walliams - who suggested they could pair up on the dancefloor - on his 'Life A Beach' podcast, he said: "I need to lose weight - one of us has to be a dancer.
"I went to Buenos Aires and said, 'When I go home, I am going to learn how to tango'.
"I wanted to be sexy but I know I'll be the Ann Widdecombe - the one dragged around the floor dressed as a matador."
'Britain's Got Talent' judge David jokingly insisted he is a dancer, but Alan quipped: "Oh please. The 'Birdie Song' doesn't count."
Meanwhile, David paid tribute to last year's winner Bill Bailey, who took home the Glitterball Trophy with Oti Mabuse and raised the standards for comedians on the Latin and ballroom competition.
He added: "Bill set the bar high. Whenever I dance, people laugh - even when I am not trying to make people laugh.
"I have to pretend it's a joke."
Alan and David's comments come after reports suggesting Beeb bosses have set their sights on an all-male pairing after Nicola Adams and Katya Jones made history in the last series by becoming the series' first ever same-sex partnership.
The star - with Olympian Tom Daley also said to be in the running - is expected to be paired up with the Italian professional Graziano Di Prima, who teamed up with Johannes Radebe for an emotional all-male routine back in the 2019 series.
A source said: "The bosses are thrilled that 'Strictly' will be able to show its first all-male couple this year.
"And they have their sights firmly on Graziano. There is no reason why a gay celebrity should automatically be paired with a gay dancer."
