Janette Manrara has backed calls for Deputy Chief Medical Officer Jonathan Van-Tam to appear on 'Strictly Come Dancing' later this year.
The 'Strictly' pro would love to see the influenza specialist - who has become a household name in the UK after appearing on a number of the government's early evening press conferences about the coronavirus pandemic - following in the footsteps of politicians such as Ed Balls on the dancefloor.
Janette - who has been a dancer on the BBC Latin and ballroom programme since 2013 - said: "If we had Ed Balls, we've had Ann Widdecombe then why not. Bring him on."
The 37-year-old star - whose husband is fellow pro Aljaž Škorjanec - has also thought of the perfect partner for Jonathan, her fellow 'Strictly' dancer Nadiya Bychkova.
Speaking on Channel 5 show 'Jeremy Vine', she added: "It comes down to height, and styles.
"I feel like he could be really good in ballroom because he's quite elegant.
"And he's quite tall, but definitely taller than me so I know I'm out of the picture straight away.
"I think I would put him with Nadiya, because she's a classy, beautiful woman. She'll take him through all the ballroom really lovely.
"She's a gorgeous ballroom dancer."
And Van-Tam is no stranger to throwing some shapes.
Anglican minister David Hilborn once saw him pull off some great moves in a play at Nottingham University in the 1980s.
Speaking on Times Radio, he said: "I vividly recall Jonathan cutting a rug on the last night party, as he led everyone in an extravagant set of moves to Van Halen’s 'Jump'."
