Channel 4 recently confirmed the 49-year-old actor would be reprising his role as the original character - who he portrayed from 1995 to 1999, when he was believed to have died in a jet ski accident - but Jeremy has revealed Kurt didn't actually pass away, as the villagers thought, but he has "been on the run".

Jeremy said: "He didn't die. It was reported that while he was travelling, he died in a jet-ski accident, but that wasn't the case.

"He's been on the run for a long time and he'd had enough of that.

"He comes back to see Tony, to be home. Put it like this: He's not disappearing."

Jeremy admitted there is "so much room" for his alter-ego to develop further, and he is "looking forward" to working with other characters.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column, he added: "We're just tackling this storyline of Kurt and Tony reuniting, and trying to help each other. But going forward, there's so much room.

"Read between the lines - I look forward to working with other characters."

Kurt will ride back into the village on his signature motorbike later this year to catch up with old friend Tony Hutchinson (Nick Pickard), who appears to have seen a ghost.

Tony has never got over losing his best pal and needs Kurt more than ever now as he is under the manipulation of his own father Edward Hutchinson (Joe McGann) and has been left dishevelled, living in a caravan and is on the brink of divorce from wife Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher).

But this won't be the first time Kurt has been back in the village.

In 2013, Jeremy reprised his role in 'Hollyoaks Later' when Kurt appeared as a figment of Tony's imagination, protecting his son Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool) from danger.
