The former 'Hollyoaks' actor - who returned to the Channel 4 soap as Kurt Benson last year having played the character from 1995 to 1999 - has called out people who feel the need to abuse others online as he shared a screenshot of the tweet, which he reported.

He wrote: "Imagine being this person who decides 'hmm, what shall I do today? I know! I'll abuse someone I've never met, will never meet about something that is not true but I know they are sensitive about.

"'Maybe I'll ruin their day? Excellent idea!' How terribly sad."

As well as a foul-mouthed insult, the user also told Jeremy to "lose weight, stop partying and eating junk food".

Last month, the 49-year-old star revealed he wouldn't be returning to the soap full-time due to the abusive messages he'd received online.

He tweeted: "It is with a heavy heart I am announcing I will NOT be returning to #Hollyoaks.

"Many reasons but I'd be lying if I said being judged on here hasn't influenced my decision.

"Never say never but for now, I'm done. Thank you to those who have supported me for me."

In January 2020, the former 'Holby City' actor - who lost 16lbs after suffering abuse after his appearance on 'The X Factor: Celebrity' the previous year - admitted he was saddened by the horrible insults.

He said at the time: "I had put on some weight and I went on 'The X Factor: Celebrity' to have fun and to sing and hopefully entertain people, but all people really cared about was that I'd put on weight.

"People were really mean. I got quite upset and I wrote a tweet saying I was upset and asked if people could leave me alone but that just fed the trolls.

"That was silly of me but I didn't know, I hadn't been trolled before."
