Greg Rutherford is feeling "so much better" four weeks after having an operation on his stomach.
The 37-year-old Olympan had to withdraw from 'Dancing on Ice' earlier this year after sustaining an injury in rehearsals and took to social media on Tuesday (16.04.24) evening to update fans on his recovery.
He wrote on Instagram: "A little stomach update…
"I’m almost 4 weeks post op now and feeling so much better. I can move around with almost no feeling of pain and the wound has now closed and healed. "Pic 2 shows the insane swelling I initially had."
Greg noted that he can still not tense his abs as he would like at the minute but has gained weight since the operation and will be back in training as soon as he is ready.
"I can’t tense my abs properly still, but that’s coming. I also managed to put a ton of weight on since the op, so as soon as I’m ready I’ll be training to get myself trim again… maybe even back on skates."
The former athlete - who won the long jump gold medal at London 2012 - took to social media in March to reveal that he was heading to see a specialist over his "grim" injury as he thanked his fans for their support.
He said: "Seen a specialist today, I've got some scans tomorrow, and then I will know more about what's going on, and what's happening.
"I'm very sore and very tired so I'm going to get an early night tonight. But again I cannot believe the amount of lovely messages I've had so thanks very much. I'll update everybody once I know what the next step is. This is grim."
