Psych - Fresh from America comes a new quick witted drama, quite unlike anything thats been done before. James Roday stars as Shawn Spencer, a young police consultant who has such overwhelming powers of observation that the detectives think he is pyschic to which he uses to his advantage. Dule Hill stars as his very reluctant sidekick, Gus. The interaction between the two best friends leads to many comic moments in the pilot. Shawn's father, Henry, played by Corbin Bernsen is ironically the person who encouraged Shawn's observation powers when he was younger but now disapproves of how he is using them. Psych mixes comedy with 'who - done - it?' crimes which creates a perfect mixture of drama and laugh out loud moments. Roday, is funnily eccentric and charming as the police pyshcic with no pshycic abilities at all who seems to get away with almost anything. In the pilot episode one particular amusing moment is the interaction between Shawn and a policewoman who believes Shawn can communicate with her dead grandmother. Being raised by a policeman, Shawn was destined to enter into the family business but after a rift between father and son Shawn goes in and out of dead end jobs. For fun, Shawn drops hints to the police when he figures something out from seeing cases on TV or in the newspapers. In the end the police hire him to help them solve cases, thinking he is pshycic - although they are very sceptical. In the end Shawn becomes the detective he always was destined to be.Tagged in 2 Pac
