Mischa Barton, Fearne Cotton and Rihanna have all been spotted in some pegs, so you know these balloon trousers are catching on fast.

Pegs are voluminous on the hip and then ballooning at the thigh, which should set off every kind of alarm bell ringing in your fashion-conscious head, but if worn correctly, then these new trendy trousers could have the fashion packs swooning!

The trick to wearing pegs with confidence is to get a pair that fit right, and to be fair these aren't the easiest trousers to manage that with. They need to tick three boxes before they can be officially labelled as pegs- they must be tight on the waist, baggy on the bum and then tapered at the hem.

Once you've managed to find the perfect pair for you, then ditch your flats. Even a 6ft supermodel would struggle to pull this look off with flat shoes. The higher the heel, the better, and let's face it- it gives you an excuse to buy a new pair of heels (like you needed an excuse anyway!)
