After the nominees went live on the MTV website this morning, FemaleFirst couldn’t resist having a sneaky peek at what they had to say about the lucky handful, and then of course, picking our own winners… see if you agree
The Nominees
Coldplay - Viva La Vida - Directed by Hype Williams
The alt rock quartet gets artsy in this bold video for "Viva La Vida."
Fall Out Boy - I Don't Care - Directed by Alan Ferguson Hemingway
Don't ever say the members of Fall Out Boy don't know how to be rock stars! They run around L.A. causing nothing but trouble in "I Don't Care."
Green Day - 21 Guns - Directed by Marc Webb
Green Day shows that a barrage of gunfire is enough to make any lovers quarrel seem minor by comparison in their video for "21 Guns."
Kings of Leon - Use Somebody - Directed by Sophie Muller
Follow the Followill boys as they take a reflective glance at life on the road in this clip for "Use Somebody."
Paramore - Decode - Directed by Shane Drake
Paramore rocks out in the woods for "Decode" a song featured on the Twilight soundtrack.
And FF’s winner is…
Green Day - 21 Guns
Although I’m pretty baffled why some of these nominees are coming under the category of ‘rock’ I think Paramore, Green Day and Fall Out Boy are the only one’s who should really be in this category.
Whilst Kings Of Leon and Coldplay do try their hardest to have a ‘rock edge’ they are still, in my opinion, indie boys at heart and so despite loving their songs, I have to give the gong to a true rocker.
Green Day prove time and time again that their music is not only great, but it conveys a meaning far bigger than making up and breaking up, and their politically-motivated videos are a great way to make kids more aware of the world in which they live in.
