After the nominees went live on the MTV website this morning, FemaleFirst couldn’t resist having a sneaky peek at what they had to say about the lucky handful, and then of course, picking our own winners… see if you agree
The Nominees
Eminem - We Made You - Directed by Joseph Kahn
A celebrity-bashing Eminem couples his legendary wordplay with unflattering (but funny) impersonations in this comedic clip.
Jay-Z - D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune) - Directed by Anthony Mandler
Jay-Z's video for "D.O.A." is almost like The Godfather for the new millennium, except, instead of picking people off, Jay attacks Auto-Tune machines. Now that's a 21st century beef!
Kanye West - Love Lockdown - Directed by Simon Henwood
Kanye gave us a taste of his monster hit "Love Lockdown" when he closed last year's VMAs, and he steps up the artistic flair in his video performance by adding a full-blown African tribe playing the drum line.
Ne-Yo - Miss Independent - Directed by Chris Robinson
Take Ne-Yo rocking a fedora, add a bevy of beautiful businesswomen and you have a music video for the self-sufficient ladies anthem of the year.
T.I. f/ Rihanna - Live Your Life - Directed by Anthony Mandler
The entire video for "Live Your Life" is shot in a Memento-like reverse chronological order. If that doesn’t hold your attention, T.I.'s hot co-star Rihanna will.
And FF’s winner is…
Eminem - We Made You
Although Eminem’s VMA rivals are all much-deserved winners of the moonman this year, we have to give the gong to Slim Shady… because how the heck he comes up with his videos is amazing! His vid’s never fail to make me laugh!
