Next year, Peter Rabbit fans will be able to see the character like never before, as he’s brought to the big screen for the first time, with James Corden voicing the mischievous creature. Having entertained millions of readers across the generations, bringing the story to fans in a whole new way will be done next March, and we can’t wait! This week, a video exploring just how it’s all going to happen was released, which you can check out below:
The movie will see Peter’s feud with Mr. McGregor (Domhnall Gleeson) reach an all-time high, as the pair fight to gain control over McGregor’s vegetable garden, as well as the love of the animal loving woman next door, played by Rose Byrne. Their conflict extends to London and the Lake District, in an adventure like none the rabbit has ever been on before.
Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki and Daisy Ridley all join the film’s cast, voicing the triplets Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-tail respectively. Sam Neill also stars, with Will Gluck working behind the cameras as the movie’s director, co-writer and producer. Doug Belgrad, Jason Lust and Jodi Hildebrand also serve as producers.
Speaking about taking on the titular role, Corden said: “Every British child falls in love with Peter Rabbit sooner or later. I hope that a new generation will see this film and rediscover the incredible books and storytelling of Beatrix Potter and fall in love with the character as I did. That’s why I wanted to be a part of this film.”
“In making this film, we’ve always felt as humble custodians entrusted with Peter’s legacy,” explained Gluck. “My parents introduced Peter to me, and I in turn introduced him to my own children – and it’s my great honour to be directing a film that will bring him to cinemas everywhere.”
Whether or not long-time fans of Peter Rabbit will be a fan of the movie remains to be seen, but with a release set for Easter of next year, we imagine this is going to be one major box office hit.
Peter Rabbit hits cinemas across the UK on March 16, 2018.
