The Last Airbender has topped the box office in Australia.
The movie is the latest project from filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan and is a big screen adaptation of a popular cartoon.
The story follows the adventures of Aang, a young successor to a long line of Avatars, who must put his childhood ways aside and stop the Fire Nation from enslaving the Water, Earth and Air nations.
The movie brings together a cast of Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone and introduces Noah Ringer and it took $2.7 million in it's opening weekend to topple animation movie Despicable Me.
It was a closely fought battle for the top spot this week as Despicable Me took a further $2.2 million but had to settle for second place.
The Other Guys and Tomorrow, When The War Began also dropped a single place to finished the weekend at three and four.
A second new entry rounded off the top five as Emma Stone is back on the big screen in new comedy Easy A.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice was down two at number six while Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore was the third and final new entry inside the top ten this week at seven.
Salt was this week's biggest fall as it dropped three places from five to eight. There was a two place drop for Inception and The Kids are Alright as they finished at nine and ten.
