Despicable Me has remained at the top of the Aussie box office, comfortably beating off competition from fellow animation movie Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga'Hoole.
Despicable Me, which boasts the voices of Steve Carell and Russell Brand, took $2.7 million over the weekend to stay in the number one spot while Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga'Hoole is the highest new entry.
Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga'Hoole is directed by Zack Snyder, the man behind 300, and also has an impressive cast list of Helen Mirren, Jim Sturgess and Abbie Cornish.
Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie's, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers.
He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga'Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie's.
The film took $1.36 million to open at number two while The Last Airbender held onto the nuber three spot. Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps fell two places to number four.
Diary of A Wimpy Kid was up three places from number eight to round off the top five.
Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore stayed at number six while the second and final new entry came in the form of Dinner For Schmucks, which was in at seven.
This week's biggest fallers were The Other Guys and Easy A, both falling four spots to finish at eight and nine. Tomorrow, When The War Began was down three at ten.
