Disney have a rather busy year ahead of them. This year (2022) is set to be filled with wonderful Disney movies, from animated features to superhero releases; here are seven films we can’t wait to see from Disney this year!
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild – January 28th
Ice Age is a somewhat iconic franchise, with the main cast of characters sticking together since their first movie in 2002. This year, however, Ice Age turns its attention to its smaller characters...
This upcoming movie focuses on a character we met in Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Buck (Simon Pegg). He is a completely crazy weasel that doesn’t think once, let alone twice, about every choice he makes, making him a brilliantly entertaining character to lead this feature.
Death on the Nile – February 11th
Death on the Nile is a follow-up movie from 2017’s Murder on the Orient Express, and is set to be a thrilling ride of murder, mystery, and glamour.
Murder occurs on a fancy riverboat, on which a newlywed couple are celebrating. With the festivities ruined, everyone faces being charged for murder, and the hunt for the killer begins...
The movie has a stellar cast, including Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman, Red Notice), Letitia Wright (Black Panther, TV’s Black Mirror), Russell Brand (Get Him to the Greek), and Emma Mackey (TV’s Sex Education).
Turning Red – March 11th
One of Disney’s animated films for this year is Turning Red, which follows Meilin (Rosalie Chiang), who wakes up one morning only to discover she is a giant, but adorable, red panda.
Meilin turns into the massive mammal when she gets upset, stressed out or over-excited, similar to the Hulk, only much cuter. The movie sees the young character deal with this odd ability, all while she tries to be a good student and live a normal life.
The Bob’s Burgers Movie – May 27th
Bob’s Burgers is a brilliant comedy show that has been going for over 10 years, and follows a family, headed by Bob Belcher (H. Jon Benjamin), who have their very own burger restaurant.
Details of the film’s plot are minimal at the moment, but hopefully, closer to the time, Disney will release more information; one thing audiences can expect however, is chaos, as Bob and his family will no doubt get into some hilarious situations (as usual).
Lightyear – June 17th
The Toy Story franchise has been beloved and adored ever since the first movie released back in 1995, and followed Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear’s (Tim Allen) rivalry-turned-friendship.
This year (2022) however, sees the origin story of toy Buzz Lightyear (now played by Chris Evans), and the adventures he went on leading to the mass distribution of the much-loved toy.
Get ready to go to ‘Infinity and beyond!’ later this year.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – November 11th
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (aka Black Panther 2) is an upcoming Disney and Marvel Studios movie that is inviting much conversation and excitement from fans.
Due to the unfortunate passing of Marvel actor Chadwick Boseman in 2020, it was unclear how the Black Panther (2018) sequel would unfold without its incredible leading man.
Details are still being kept under wraps at the moment, but what we do know is that Letitia Wright, who plays T’Challa’s (Boseman) sister Shuri, may become the next Black Panther; only time will tell...
Avatar 2 – December 16th
After what seems like centuries, the sequel to 2009’s Avatar is finally on its way to release, and in the holiday season this year, we will finally get to see where Jake Sully’s (Sam Worthington) story went.
Avatar is one of the most successful films of all time, and for good reason. It had a stellar cast, an incredible story, and outstanding visuals; the sequel can only be just as good, if not better.
Avatar 2 is set to follow Jake and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) as they bring up a family while exploring the beautiful and mysterious world of Pandora. However, when an ancient threat resurfaces, the pair must fight to stay alive, and protect those they love.
