This week sees an interesting selection of stories reveal themselves, such as Josh Peck’s new role, a couple of DC delays, and Halloween Ends has come to the end of filming. Read about all this, and more, below!
Oppenheimer adds Josh Peck to its cast
Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic, Oppenheimer, has added Josh Peck (Drake & Josh) to its already impressive roster.
The film, set in World War Two (WW2), will follow the creation of the atomic bomb by Robert Oppenheimer. Given Nolan’s track record with films such as The Dark Knight and Inception, Oppenheimer will surely wow audiences.
Peck is reported to be playing American physicist Kenneth Bainbridge, who aided in the research for the Manhattan Project, the cover name for clandestine operations within the U.S. to create nuclear weapons in WW2.
The film will release into cinemas on July 21st, 2023.
Trailer for Moonshot releases
Warner Bros. has recently released a trailer for their forthcoming sci-fi rom-com titled Moonshot, starring Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Cole Sprouse (Riverdale).
The feature will debut exclusively on HBO Max, and follows Sophie (Condor) and Walt (Sprouse), two college students who embark on a journey travelling from Earth to Mars.
Moonshot will premiere on HBO Max on March 31st, 2022.
DC League of Super Pets gets delayed
Star of upcoming animated DC movie, Dwayne Johnson, posted a video on his Instragram account stating that some release dates have changed, including DC League of Super Pets.
Johnson stars as Krypto the Superdog, Superman’s (John Krasinski) best friend and right-hand pooch. The film also stars Kevin Hart as Ace the Bat Hound, and Keanu Reeves as the voice of Batman.
Despite delayed dates usually seen as negative, this can be a good thing for many end products. The move comes due to a choice of rearranging some of DC’s upcoming releases, meaning DC League of Super Pets will now release on July 29th, 2022, as opposed to its original date of May 20th, 2022.
Halloween Ends has finished shooting
The finale of David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy, Halloween Ends, has recently wrapped filming and the crew are celebrating its completion.
This trilogy began in 2018 with Halloween, a direct sequel to the 1978 slasher that ignored every other entry into the franchise. Last year (2021) saw the second film, Halloween Kills, release, and it’s now safe to say that fans are looking forward to the big finale.
Halloween Ends reportedly takes place four years after the other two films, which were set on the same night. The movie releases on October 14th, 2022, leaving a long stretch for post-production to do its thing.
Death on the Nile streaming release date revealed
Death on the Nile, starring Gal Gadot, Letitia Wright, Russell Brand and Emma Mackey, is set to release onto Hulu this month (March, 2022), around a month after its cinematic release.
The movie is based off of Agatha Christie’s novel of the same name, and boasts a stellar cast, stunning visuals, and a brilliant detective story.
Death on the Nile will land on Hulu (and HBO Max) on March 29th, 2022.
Shazam 2 to release 6 months earlier than expected
With the delays that are hitting DC at the moment, it’s great to hear that Shazam! Fury of the Gods will actually be releasing six months ahead of schedule.
Shazam! 2 sees Zachary Levi reprise his role as the titular hero, Shazam, who is teenager Billy’s (Asher Angel) alter-ego as a result of his powers.
The movie was intended to release in June of next year (2023), but due to a rescheduling decision at DC, the movie will now land in cinemas on December 16th, 2022.
The Flash delayed to 2023
Despite DC having some exciting releases coming up, the schedule has recently gotten a little messy, as Dwayne Johnson revealed delays for both Black Adam and DC League of Super Pets.
This rescheduling also means that Ezra Miller’s solo Flash movie has been pushed back from November 2022, to summer 2023. This is somewhat disappointing for fans, as The Flash marked an exciting time for DC.
The Flash now has a seven-month delay in front of it, but at least fans have other DC features to check out, even if many of them are now further away than we first thought.
