This month there are a whole string of brilliant movies hitting the big screen. From the likes of Oscar contender Green Book to Liam Neeson-led action flick Cold Pursuit, we've put together a list of some of the biggest and best films coming to cinemas across the UK this February. Check out our recommendations below!

Green Book - out now

It's already been a brilliant awards season for Green Book, and the film has only just arrived on British shores! Directed by Peter Farrelly, who co-wrote alongside Brian Currie and Nick Vallelonga, the film is set against the backdrop of the 1960s in the Deep South, and follows the tour between African-American pianist Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) and his driver Tony Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen).

The comedy-drama tackles the always-topical subject of racial identity and inequality, and follows the friendship and alliance forged by the pair of unlikely companions who realise that the world still has a way to go when it comes to acceptance.

Alita: Battle Angel - released February 6

James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez collaborate on what looks to be one of the strangest yet most action-packed cinematic adventures of the year. When Alita wakes up without a single memory in a world she doesn't recognise, she's taken in by a compassionate doctor (Christoph Waltz) who realises that the heart and soul of a young woman with a complicated history is buried somewhere within this cyborg shell.

It is her past that threatens to destroy her however, when she quickly realises that dangerous forces are trying to take her down in a bid to control her unique powers and abilities.

Rosa Salazar, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson all star in the film, which is based on the graphic novel series GUNNM by Yukito Kishiro.

If Beale Street Could Talk - released February 8

Written and directed by Barry Jenkins, this romantic drama is based on James Baldwin's novel of the same name and follows a young African-American woman who seeks to clear the name of her lover, who has been wrongly charged of sexual assault.

KiKi Layne and Stephan James lead the cast as Tish and Fonny respectively, starring alongside the likes of Regina King, Teyonah Parris, Colman Domingo, Diego Luna, Pedro Pascal and Dave Franco.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part - released February 8

Noel Fielding and Richard Ayoade have joined the cast of The LEGO Movie 2, signing up alongside a returning all-star cast made up of the likes of Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Tiffany Haddish, Stephanie Beatriz, Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, Charlie Day and Maya Rudolph.

The heroes of Bricksburg are reunited in this action-packed sequel, forced to work together if they're to save their city from the new threat of LEGO DUPLO invaders.

Whether or not this film can live up to the brilliance of the first, as well as The LEGO Batman Movie remains to be seen, but we're sure it'll be one heck of a ride no matter what!

Instant Family - released February 14

Whenever Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne star in a comedy, you know it's going to be good. Here, the pair take on the roles of Pete and Ellie respectively who decide to start a family, and get caught up in the world of foster care adoption. Though they plan on only bringing a single, small child home, they meet three siblings including a rebellious 15-year-old (Isabela Moner) and cannot resist taking in all three under their roof.

Hilarity of course ensues, as Pete and Ellie do their all to learn the ropes of parenthood overnight. Inspired by the real events of writer and director Sean Anders's life, Instant Family could be one of the funniest, yet most heartwarming flicks of 2019.

The Kid Who Would Be King - released February 15

Directed by Joe Cornish, Sir Patrick Stewart and Rebecca Ferguson lead the cast of The Kid Who Would Be King, alongside Angus Imrie, Louis Ashbourne Serkis, Dean Chaumoo, Tom Taylor and Rhianna Dorris.

Serkis plays the young Alex; a boy who thinks he's just another nobody before stumbling upon the Sword in the Stone, Excalibur. He'll have to reunite his friends and enemies into a band of knights, and work with Merlin (Stewart) if they're to stand a chance against the evil enchantress Morgana (Ferguson).

Cold Pursuit - released February 22

Hans Petter Moland takes his seat in the director's chair for this thriller based on the 2014 Norwegian flick In Order of Disappearance.

Audiences are invited on another action-packed adventure with Liam Neeson's latest character; a snowplow driver who's seeking revenge against the drug dealers he thinks are responsible for the death of his son.

Could Cold Pursuit go down in history as has much of Neeson's past work? That remains to be seen, but we're sure the veteran actor will be giving a stellar performance throughout, no matter the case.

Fighting With My Family - released February 27

Written and directed by Stephen Merchant, Fighting With My Family tells the real-life story of WWE Superstar Paige. Growing up in a family that makes a living wrestling together in tiny venues, no one can prepare the clan for the success Paige will see once she sets her sights on becoming a part of the world's leading wrestling brand.

Starring Dwayne Johnson alongside the likes of Florence Pugh, Lena Headey, Nick Frost, Jack Lowden and Vince Vaughn, this is a star-studded affair that looks to be hilarious at times, and heartwarming at others. A must-see this February.
