That's about it. I don't really watch I was watching "Dexter" when it first came out and then I switched. I lost interest in that. And I'm not -- I'm the type of guy who can't follow a show.
- When Emily was talking she seemed to be really into the whole forensic side of it and fascinated by all the bones and the skulls. Is that something that you've picked up in as well? Is that something you're interested in, that side of it, the forensic side? I mean, I know that you're...
Yeah.
-...but just being around the kind of the lab sort of side of it.
Nothing whatsoever.
- Oh.
I don't like the lab. I don't like being in the lab. I don't like going to the lab. I quite honestly just told Hart never to put me in the lab anymore. (Laughter.)
-Do you want more action then? What, if you could...
I want more action. Definitely. I mean, I think we're doing a little bit more of that this year and we'll be doing more so.
We just did one where, you know, the grave digger comes back and I get knocked on my head and I wake up in a submarine that's in -- buried in a boat that's sinking so I have to get out.
So the more action oriented the shows I want more action. Because I like that kind of stuff.
- Playing with guns a bit more of that?
Well, being responsible with a firearm.(Laughter.)
- Very well put.
In a situation in a scene that would dictate to use a firearm responsibly, yes, that would be good.
- I wasn't trying to trick you there. (Laughter.)
I've seen it before.
- No, you answered that like a true professional. (Laughter.)
But I do think more action would be great.
- So you speak to Hart. You said I want to be playing -- I want to be responsible with firearms
but...
Well, no. I just went to Hart and said it would be great to do more stunts and see the two characters together trying to get out of a situation that is a little bit more dangerous.
- Is that why the Lamborghini comes into it?
No. You know what? The car thing is just really something that's part of the storyline. It kind of comes in 'cause we go in and investigate and find out that the gentleman who was killed worked at the car dealership called Jungle Jim's, which is a safari theme kind of car dealership.
And across the street is The Prestige automobile car dealership, which is two different types of car dealerships. So we kind of -- you know, I get the car towards the end of the episode and there's a funny scene where I'm trying to get information from the guy who works at Prestige by driving his car very fast.
- Oh.
On a road that's a little bumpy. Very fast car on -- expensive car that he doesn't want to see
damaged.
- So he gets nervous?
He gets very nervous. Very nervous. So I mean, the car just kind of comes in towards the end
as a little bit of a -- just to have fun with the characters.
- I was thinking vampires both in film and TV seem to be more popular now than ever. Do you feel like you're kind of slightly responsible for those
No, I don't.
- I mean, it's everywhere; isn't it?
Well, I mean, I think that it -- I think with everything there's change and new stories that come out and whether it's a new show or a film or whatever. So I think that it's just -- you know, I
don't think that I'm responsible for any of that stuff.
I just, it was part of a great show that had, was part of a great character that I really enjoyed playing and I think of it as just as a journey. That's all. I don't think there's any kind of responsibility towards it though.
I mean, to each has their own experiences on what they work on and if you're fortunate and blessed to be a part of something that creative, that's great. And if not, you just go to the next thing and see what happens.
- I have a UK centric question. In the beginning of Season 4 you were filming in the UK and you
did...
Uh-huh.
- Did you actually get a chance to see anything in the UK or were you just so busy filming?
Oh, I saw a tons of things in the UK.
- Yeah.
I went to the wax museum. (Laughter.)
- Would that be Madame Tussaud's?
No, I wanted to go there, but I went on the wheel. The big white wheel. That was nice. That was fun.
- You had a good time and you didn't just...
I couldn't -- I couldn't stay in my hotel room. I'm not, you know, we'd work 10, 11 hours and go back and go down to the bar and have a drink then go for a walk and have dinner somewhere. I'm not the type of person who likes to sit in their room and...
- How different was it kind of being on location way over there without your usual crew and all
the rest of it?
I loved it. I mean, I loved the challenges and the people and the relationship. I mean, I think that's great. I don't, I mean, I don't like comfort in things. So,I mean, only in my bed and
sheets. I'm sure you'll misquote me on that one too.(Laughter.)
I just, I quite honestly just think it's great to be able to go somewhere and experience a new crew. I mean, why not.
- Yeah, of course.
Change. Change is great.
- Whereabouts were you staying?
In London?
- Uh-huh. What were you near by?
I was down in the theater district, in that area.
- Oh, central.
Yeah. So, you know, which is the Soho area which is very vibrant and alive with the characters. So that area.
- And we were asking -- anywhere else you'd like to go on location? Any dream locations you'd like to...
Italy would be nice. Rome. Paris. It would be nice. Sure. I'd like to go to Rome.
- Would your family get to travel with you on those places? That would be a double whammy.
Yeah. Not really. I don't really get involved while I'm working. Maybe towards the end of it, sure but not when I'm like at the start of production 'cause it's just too much stuff going on.
Too much work.
- How hard do you find balancing that sort of working? Because when you're in a TV show those hours are crazy.
When I'm on show? Oh, my God.
- Seriously. I hate to break it to you.
Wow! It's like a dream.
- You're actually happy and employed and everything. Do you find it hard to balance the personal -- finding time with your wife and kids?
Yeah, there's a balance that definitely is there that you maintain as best as you possibly can.
There's a lot of sacrifices and a lot of missed opportunities and moments that, you know, can be very sad at times and very elating.
I mean, I can come home and not see my son for the whole day, which is very sad to me, but I can go give him a kiss goodnight and spend five minutes with him at least and to me that's like a year, that moment.
So there's a lot of down time -- there's a lot of time that you do miss out on and that's really kind of -- that's the hard part about it. But you just balance it by -- you know, with -- with the work and making it as -- for me it's my experiences. So I use it.
- What about Zack's storyline this year? We heard (inaudible) you know he was supposed to have killed someone.
Who me? My character?
- No. Zack.
Zack is supposed to kill someone?
- He admitted he didn't kill...
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know what you're saying. His character admitted to not being the killer...
Unidentified speaker: He admitted it to Sweets.
David Boreanaz: Yeah, yeah, he admitted it to Sweets. Yeah, it was a one-episode show. Yes.
- So will it be an ark -- a storyline for all the season to discover who did it and if he will be innocent? Is Zack's storyline going to be major storyline?
Well, I think Zack will be kind of pretty much -- I mean, I think that they'll go back and see him again in the white room that he's in right now. So I think it will be a useful resource for figuring things out maybe. Possibly, yeah. That can happen.
