David Boreanaz wouldn't return to 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'.

The 51-year-old actor played Angel in the hit 90s television series and a self-titled spinoff about the character but he has ruled himself out of ever returning to the show.

Asked if he'd want to play Angel again, he insisted he wasn't against the idea of the show returning, just not with him in the role: "No. I’m all for people redoing it or whatever, but I’m too old. It’s not like we’re the cast of 'Friends' reuniting. We’re not hanging out in the coffee shop on a couch. But, you know, with all that technology, they made Robert De Niro look really young. I would encourage them to find somebody else to do it."

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' follows the story of Buffy Anne Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who is forced to navigate a usual high school life, all whilst hunting out vampires and demons.

Stacey Abrams shocked the world last month when she said Angel was the "right boyfriend" for Buffy at one time, whilst another character was better suited for her in the later episodes.

She tweeted: "To be fair, Angel was the right boyfriend for Buffy coming into her power. Spike was the right man to be with as she became the power."

And now David has fired back to insist he disagrees with Stacey as he believes "the first love is your true love".

Asked if he'd debate the case as he appeared on the Variety and iHeart podcast 'The Big Ticket', he insisted: "Of course. It would be over in one second. The first love is your true love. Your true love is your first love. And that’s all I have to say. It’s over. Just drop the mic and walk off."
