Marchesa's new contemporary line was a "natural progression".
Fashion design duo Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig unveiled their purse-friendly contemporary line, Marchesa Voyage, this weekend and revealed the project has been in the works for a while.
Georgina told Fashionista.com: "It's something Keren and I always wanted to do. It's very much a relaxed attitude. It's got the Marchesa DNA. We've always wanted to a lifestyle brand and this is a very natural progression for us."
Keren added: "It's really those pieces that you want to wear during the day. Whether you're travelling on a plane, going to work or packing a suitcase for a far off exotic adventure - those every day pieces that you can wear day to night."
The new collection features embroidered, sequinned and printed daytime clothing and accessories which have the same glamorous feel as their main line, but are priced between $260 (£165) and $1,000 (£640).
Georgina added: "I think this collection naturally lends itself toward that price point. This is day clothing - it's easy clothing. You're going to see a lot of detail, you're going to see prints that we've done in our Marchesa studios.
"You have lace, you have embroidery. That our partners could achieve that at this price point, that's really exciting to us."
