Thursday Plantation is the World’s #1 Tea Tree brand and Australia’s original tea tree oil. The plantation was the first to emerge in the world nearly 40 years ago, pioneering quality standards to create the most effective 100% tea tree oil that is traceable from tree to bottle.
Distilled from specially selected Melaleuca alternifolia leaves, a plant native to coastal regions of northern South Wales and south eastern Queensland, Australia, this 100% pure and naturally sourced antibacterial liquid is your multi-tasking must have in a bottle!
But don’t take it straight from us – Dr. Wendy Denning is also a big fan of tea tree oil. She reports, “Years ago I saw a man being treated in hospital with tea tree oil applied to his whole body daily to fight MRSA as antibiotics were no longer working. Having been very sick, he slowly improved and was able to be discharged from hospital.”
15 WAYS TO USE TEA TREE...
- MOUTH ULCERS – Apply directly to the sore using a cotton bud to help ease the pain and heal the area.
- INSECT BITES – Take the sting and itch out of insect bites. Either apply directly to the skin or for more sensitive skin, add a few drops to a carrier oil, such as coconut oil, and apply. Dr. Wendy Denning has “used [Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Manuka Honey Balm] for both stings and bites with good results. It makes sense that it would be helpful given its strong antibacterial and viral actions preventing any skin bacteria entering the wound as well as fighting off any infection that the insect may be carrying. Tea Tree Oil contains a number of compounds that have been shown to fight off certain viruses, bacteria and fungi, including staph aureus, MRSA, stret pneumonia and H Influenzae to name a few. It also reduces inflammation in the skin that helps with the pain of the sting.”
- FUNGAL NAIL INFECTIONS - It can be used to treat a fungal nail infection by applying directly to the toe. It is absorbed very quickly and will penetrate toenails, but several months of application may be required.
- SORE MUSCLES - The anti-inflammatory properties can help soothe sore muscles. Add 10 drops, along with a large handful of Epsom salts, to a warm bath and soak for 30 minutes.
- GRAZES & CHAFING - A natural antibacterial that can improve the appearance of skin blemishes. Apply using a non-plastic cotton bud directly to the affected area. Dr. Denning says, “Grazes can be very painful and frequently get low grade infections from the skin bacteria. The wonderful combination of this balm to reduce infection, reduce inflammation and to promote healing by increasing white blood cells to the area make it ideal for grazes.” As for chafing, Dr. Denning continues, “very often fungi will grow in areas of chafing due to the moist and dark areas that tend to chafe so this soothing [Tea Tree Manuka Honey Balm] reduces inflammation in the skin and speeds up healing by killing off any fungus that may be delaying healing. ”
- DANDRUFF AND ITCHY SCALP – Add to your regular shampoo and to really make the most of the soothing benefits, leave for at least 5 minutes before rinsing.
- DISINFECT BRUSHES AND COMBS - Add 25 drops of tea tree oil to a sink of hot water to soak hairbrushes and combs to clean and disinfect them.
- HOUSEHOLD CLEANING – Fill a spray bottle with 15-20 drops of tea tree oil and the rest of the bottle with water. Dr. Denning says, “It is a wonderful disinfectant and will also make your house smell clean.”
- TOOTHBRUSH - Keep your toothbrushes bacteria-free by treating with tea tree oil. Add 10 drops to 1 glass of water, and submerge your toothbrushes overnight. Ideally do this once a week.
- MOUTHWASH - 2-3 drops of the oil in a cup of warm water can be a very effective mouth rinse to ease a sore mouth, oral thrush or gum disease.
- HEADLICE – Take care of pesky lice naturally by mixing up your own lice shampoo. Add 15 drops to one cup of your favorite shampoo. Massage into the scalp and let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes before rinsing. Dr. Denning says, “Head lice are common in all children and spread rapidly through schools. The standard products available are quite toxic and so are not really ideal for children, albeit they work and so one reluctantly uses them. Tea Tree Oil offers a wonderful alternative as it is safe and is known to kill off both the lice and the eggs. As it is so safe, Tea Tree Oil can be used as a preventative treatment every few weeks as well.”
