Meet the ‘Modern Family’ and enjoy the neuroses and eccentricities of a 21st century family when season one of the Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy® Award-winning show is released on DVD on 4th October.
Starring Ed O’Neill (Married with Children) and a fantastic ensemble cast, this hilarious ‘mockumentary’ takes a candid look at three thoroughly modern families.
Brought to DVD by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, the show follows the families of Jay Pritchett (Ed O’Neill, Married with Children), his daughter Claire (Julie Bowen) and son Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) as they deal with the trials and tribulations of modern family life.
Having married a much younger woman in the shape of feisty Columbian, Gloria (Sofia Vergara), Jay is faced with the daily challenge of helping to raise her pre-teen son, Manny (Rico Rodriguez II).
A hopeless romantic, Manny’s sensitive disposition makes Jay more than a little uncomfortable, and being mistaken for Gloria’s father is starting to wear thin.
Claire and her husband Phil (Ty Burrell) are desperate to have honest and healthy relationships with their three children.
Phil yearns to be the ‘cool’ dad, while Claire keeps a tight reign over the brood to ensure they don’t have the rebellious childhood she had.
It is not always that simple, especially when teenage daughter Haley (Sarah Hyland) is growing up too fast, middle daughter Alex (Ariel Winter) is an over-achiever and youngest son, Luke (Nolan Gould) is a bit too much like his dad.
Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and his partner Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) have just adopted a baby from Vietnam.
With contrasting personalities Cameron is the more outgoing of the two, and his flair for the dramatic counterbalances Mitchell’s uptight, worrying ways. New to fatherhood, both are overprotective and cautious dads to daughter Lilly.
Season One of the award-winning show was met with critical acclaim when it hit the small screen in 2009. Bought to DVD this October the box set features all 24 episodes, with added extras including deleted, extended and alternate scenes, gag reel and Modern Family ‘Hawaii’ amongst others.
Modern Family won six Emmys® at the 2010 Awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series for Eric Stonestreet.
