A beaver is on the loose in New Mexico after escaping from a zoo.
The Spring River Zoo in Roswell has revealed that a two-year-old beaver was discovered to be missing from his enclosure. It is believed to have tunneled under a number of fences to get out of the zoo.
The city's police service and animal services department have been informed of the beaver's bid for freedom.
The zoo said: "If anyone sees a beaver in the city or surrounding area, it could possibly be the zoo's animal. While the beaver is relatively tame, he does not like to be picked up and should not be chased."
The zoo is asking people who spot the beaver to contact them rather than try and capture it themselves.
