Nowadays it seems that panel shows are on our screens almost every night of the week, but this is testament to the fact that we just can’t get enough of them. Here we count down to our favourite panel show, looking at just why we love them so much along the way.
5. 8 Out of 10 Cats
Hosted by Jimmy Carr, 8 Out of 10 Cats exposes some crazy polls and statistics with the help of celebrity guests. Sean Lock’s dry humour and Jimmy Carr’s flamboyant style makes this show full of laughs every week.
4. Never Mind the Buzzcocks
The long-running music show challenges contestants to answer music questions and even imitate popular hits.
Although the quiz has lost some of its spark since the departure of team captain Bill Bailey, it is still lots of fun to watch, particularly during the intros round.
3. QI
This Quite Interesting show unearths the truth about common myths and educates the guests with little known facts.
Points are awarded for being interesting, but the host Stephen Fry is what makes this show lovable series after series.
Stand out moments include Fry’s impatience with Lee Mack’s inability to spell "ceiling" and faking the decapitation of Harry Potter.
2. Would I Lie To You?
The latest series of this fraudulent fun has just come to an end on BBC One.
Contestants have to convince the others that their stories are true, but the stories get more and more far-fetched with every series.
Host Rob Brydon and team captains David Mitchell and Lee Mack’s banter is what keeps this show alive.
1. Mock the Week
The ultimate panel show, Dara O’Briain hosts a show where panel members mock the news of the week. Even if the news has been quiet, contestants always find a way to make us laugh.
Mock the Week has survived the departure of the very popular Frankie Boyle and Russell Howard, with regular member Hugh Dennis, Andy Parsons and Chris Addison becoming our firm favourites.
