Carla Connor is to begin a Coronation Street romance with Nick Tilsley upon her return.
Played by Alison King, the Underworld boss has been away in Los Angeles, coming to terms with the fact that her brother Rob Donovan murdered love rival Tina McIntyre. Happier times are ahead however when Carla falls for the Bistro owner.
However, one person who will likely have a problem with Carla's new romance is Nick's estranged wife Leanne Battersby - who was also previously married to Carla's estranged husband Peter Barlow.
Nick (Ben Price) and Carla will grow close after sharing a bottle of wine while he fixes her laptop and their closeness is also expected to upset Nick's on-off lover Erica Holroyd, played by former 'Emmerdale' actress Claire King.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Not everyone will be thrilled for them but they find they've got a lot in common, not least their exes."
Meanwhile, Leanne is set to be at the centre of a domestic abuse storyline when Peter's son Simon (Alex Bain) - who she has guardianship over - begins abusing her.
'Corrie' producer Stuart Blackburn said previously: "This summer is going to see 'Coronation Street' at its classic best. It's going to be a mixture of romance, of comedy and of drama, and out of that drama Leanne Battersby is going to find herself at the centre of a domestic abuse story.
"But this is a story with a twist... The perpetrator is Leanne's 12-year-old step-son Simon."
