The manipulative blonde - who made her last appearance on the ITV soap in 2005 - is set to make an "explosive" comeback next month.
Charity will emerge in full bridal dress, but the identity of her mystery groom - and whether the wedding goes ahead - remains "strictly under wraps".
Emma Atkins, who has portrayed the character since 2000, said: "I am incredibly excited to be continuing Charity's journey and feel privileged to have been asked back. It is a new chapter in both my life and Charity's and I couldn't wait to start work."
She fled the village in March 2005 after getting revenge on Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) by seducing her husband Jimmy (Nick Miles).
Her daughter Debbie (Charley Webb) was heartbroken and hasn't spoken to her mother since she left.
Series producer Gavin Blyth said: "Charity's dramatic return will have repercussions throughout the village. Viewers are in for a real treat."
Charity will make her shocking return to 'Emmerdale' on October 1.
