Out of work and with his relationship on the rocks, Kirk's (Andrew Whyment) bereft. Admitting he feels a failure he knows he has to make a big gesture if he's to convince Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) he's serious about their future. But as Kirk borrows money from Tyrone (Alan Halsall) to hatch his plan Fiz has turned her attentions elsewhere. Meeting up with John (Graham Hawley) for lunch she's flattered and touched when he tells her she'd make a great classroom assistant. Mistaking his encouragement as a come on, Fiz tries to kiss him. But has she misread the signals?When Violet (Jenny Platt) and Liz (Beverley Callard) catch Steve (Simon Gregson) and Michelle (Kym Ryder) snogging in the back room word's soon out about their blossoming relationship. But Liz isn't happy, reckoning it will only end in tears, and as the couple try to plan a night alone she stubbornly refuses to babysit. It's not the start they were hoping for but nothing can dampen Steve's spirits.Elsewhere, Blanche (Maggie Jones) is pleased when Ken (William Roache) arrives back at the Barlows', but when he confirms he's only come to collect some more things Blanche knows it's up to her to convince him to stay and talk to Deirdre. Will she succeed?As Leanne (Jane Danson) spends the day with Carla (Alison King) she's chuffed to be in with the in crowd. But Carla warns her not to expect the other Connors to welcome her into the fold so quickly. Leanne's undeterred however, this is the lifestyle she craves, and she'll fight to achieve it.
