The total wealth of the women in the top 25 is £234.6 million compared to the men's £167.4 million.

Stars who made their way onto the list include X Factor and Britain's Got Talent alumni, and numbers show that not winning these types of shows actually benefit participants.

Show winners in the top 25 have have made a total of £38 million, but runners-up have made a whopping £125.4 million.

The Sun on Sunday Reality TV's Richest has also commissioned researched into opinions of young people surrounding reality television and the stars it creates, which revealed young Britons have higher opinions of reality stars than David Cameron.

Only 4.1% of respondents favoured the PM over celebrities such as Kim Kardashian (9.9%) and Paris Hilton (4.8%). Cameron fared better than Prince Charles however, who was only selected by 2.8% of those questioned.

Personal wealth is more important to young Brits than being a good neighbour, and the majority (18.7%) chose life as a doctor as their dream profession.

Only half (50.3%) said they have more respect for their parents than their favourite reality stars, and when asked which reality show is most inspiring Simon Cowell's creations fared the best, with 14.1% selecting Britain's Got Talent and X Factor coming in at a close second with 13.9%.
