Mud Men

Mud Men

For a few short hours every day, the banks of the River Thames becomes an exclusive hunting ground for those brave enough to explore its muddy expanses in search of lost wonders. Join Johnny Vaughan and expert Steve Brooker on HISTORY™ as they follow the exploits and amazing discoveries of the Mud Men, people who have found fortune and fame in the most unlikely of places.

Armed with their determination, keen senses and techniques dating back to the 18th century, men and women known as mudlarkers practise their guerrilla archeology, digging up relics that reveal the secrets of London’s past. Ancient trash becomes modern-day treasure and the Mud Men aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty in their quest for undiscovered riches. Ranging from lost trinkets to ancient remains, the Thames holds many secrets for intrepid Mud Men.

Wise words from the Mud God

Ready to dive head first into the Mud Men’s world, Johnny is joined by veteran bank-comber Steve Brooker in his search for items lost in the murky slime of London’s famous river. Nicknamed the Mud God, Steve has a history of some of the most incredible finds and his expertise is often called upon to track down lost valuables and search for evidence dumped by careless criminals. With the ever-encroaching threat of the tides, Steve is always aware of the danger but his love of the mud won’t let him go.
