Dancing With The Stars semi-final results - Tuesday night and a decision on which three couples would continue through to the live finals.

Tom announced the first two couples to find out they would be in the final three were Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson and Mya and partner Dmitry Chaplin. This left Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough and Kelly Osbourne and Louis van Amstel to fight over the last spot. Kelly had been scored the lowest of the two Monday by the judges' therefore if she went through it would have been courtesy of the audience vote.

Tom then went on to deliver the shock of the night, maybe of the season it was Joanna and Derek who didn't make it to the finals, despite top scores from the judges. The finals next week will have Mya, a skilled dancer, along with Donny the entertainer and Kelly, who will have been placed there by her fan base. The unfortunate thing is that by excluding Joanna herself a skilled dancer it has removed any real challenge to Mya producing something of a one horse race. Still thats the basis of the public vote.

The show moved on as return of Melissa Rycroft last years third placed celebrity to dance a hustle with her pro partner, Tony Dovolani to the accompaniment of the Bee Gees singing "You Should Be Dancing."

More music then came in the form of Alicia Keys. Wearing what appeared to be her black rubber shorts over blue knit leggings- odd choice but her singing at least was presentable.

That was followed by a performance from Leona Lewis, who is also both famous and relevant, making her an unusual inclusion for this show.

A dance performance from the upcoming film "Nine" was performed under red lights and dry ice, though it's relevance in the film was missing the performance was never the less stunning in its execution. The producers managed to get two fillers in one show that actually fitted.

But perhaps the most bizarre filler of the night involved the four contestants miming to "Under Pressure.", which culminated in Mya burning her shoes and Kelly Osbourne angrily hurling a disco ball, neither amusing or entertaining it was dire, sorry you guys it spoiled what was otherwise an excellent show.

Next week the live final with Whitney Houston, no doubt hoping to further her come-back .
