Dancing With The Stars - nine celebrities kicked off Monday night with a jitterbug or a waltz with the news that they will face two straight double eliminations (meaning that almost half the group will go this week or next). Monday night, the remaining couples danced their individual dances .. either the .. and then participated in a group mambo.
Unsurprisingly Mya and her partner Dmitry Chaplin chose a jitterbug, their performance was inline with the dance - fast light and effortless, But the duo must have caught Len Goodman on a bad night as he expressed disappointment at what he described as a gimmicky opening, Mya and Dmitry therefore scored only 24 points.
Next up Melissa Joan Hart and Mark Bellas took to the floor to perform a waltz, during practice Mark brought in his mum, dancer Shirley Ballas, to help. Their routine turned out to be light on technique but never the less it was 'OK' Mellissa it must be said lack natural movement which makes the waltz a hard dance for her. Bruno Tonioli struggled to find any positives with fellow judge Carrie Ann agreeing, but Len was a bit more forgiving.
Mark Dacascos and his partner Lacey Schwimmer with jitterbug, where he turned in a energetic physical routine. Their performance saw Lacey, on one occasion lifting Mark The crowd got behind them which must have lightened the judges mood as they scored the couple at 26 points.
Aaron Carter, who has been struggling after turning in some flat un passionate performances was next up. His waltz with Karina Smirnoff was disciplined but somehow false and unconvincing. The judges were taken in though Aaron and Karina scored a surprising 25 points, which when compared with the previous performance did not appear valid.
Michael Irvin is another who has struggled after all he is not a natural on the dance floor he and his partner, Anna Demidova, have stayed thanks to the NFL vote Michael and Anna performed a waltz, - stiff and lacking grace, but he cannot be accused of not giving it his all. Technically lacking it was but Carrie Ann felt the routine had significant charm, and Len still on a high described it as "really, really good," Michael and Anna scored 20 points.
Kelly Osbourne still suffering from a foot injury from last week was up next with a jitterbug. The jitterbug seemed a good fit for Kelly who with her partner put in an energetic cheeky performance with attitude. The judges generally enjoyed her performance but picked her up for being flat footed but the euphoria from the panel seemed to be waning scoring her at 20 points.
Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower continue to hang on in there followed with their jitterbug, they added in some tricks and the general performance turned out to be enjoyable, Louie though always seems to be walking instead of dancing something the Carrie Ann was quick to pick up on as well as pointing out Luois' two faults - he half-dropped Chelsie twice during the routine. Louie and Chelsie scored 21 points, .

Joanna Krupa, back with partner Derek Hough after his bout of flu were next on the floor with a waltz. A nervy Derek had a couple of awkward moments, but, Joanna's waltz was nice to watch and choreographed cleverly by Derek emphasise her flexibility and long legs. Bruno obviously loved her "butterfly in a meadow" performance and Joanna scored 26 points
Finally the irrepressible Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson. Donny who is surprisingly fast on his feet, unsurprising chose the jitterbug. The judges picked out a couple of faults with Donny falling behind a couple of times during the routine.Donny and Kym scored 24 points.
The closed with a Saturday Night Fever style group mambo in which couples were "tapped out" one at a time, the first out earning 2 points, up to the final dancer standing, who would receive 10. Things progressed very predictably: first out Michael, followed by Louie, Melissa, Kelly, Mark, Donny, Aaron, and Mya, leaving the 10-point prize to Joanna and Derek, to complete an excellent night for the show's leaders.
So who was in trouble - Louie,(21) Michael,(20) Melissa,(20) though Kelly (20) should slip through..Tuesday two of the couples will be in the dance-off placed there by the judges only, adding
