American Idol... It's decided after a vote of 95 million Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina will be the finalists next week after Haley Reinhart was sent home finishing in third place.
McCreery and Alaina are seventeen and sixteen respectively making them the youngest finalists in “Idol” so far.
Reinhart was left looking shocked when the results were announced but in true star style she swallowed her disappointment and put in a show winning performance of “Bennie and the Jets.” Haley once again raised the bar with what was one of her best performances of the series leaving us baffled as why she was heading home,
The finale is now a country affair country voices with McCreery seemingly the favorite to win,. Both stars should have successful careers in the country business and by the very nature of its popularity they could become most successful finalists Idol has produced. Back to the finale, neither Alaina or McCreery have any real stage presence so it looks like the finale will be a duller affair without Reinhart.
During last nights show the footage of the hometown visits got an airing.Reinhart's was a tearful affair with both her an her security man blubbing.
.
McCreery’s visit had Josh Turner joining him onstage for his concert in North Carolina. Turner is known for having a deep voice which was very apt.
Alaina’s return home was a very somber journey as she flitted between cheering crowds and tornado wreckage in her home state of Georgia. Alaina took time out to visit some of those who survived the storms which will serve as a reminder of the devastation that had occurred.
In fill acts for Thursdays show - Nicole Scherzinger and 50 Cent plugging her new single, “Right There.” and getting some exposure ahead of her pending stint on Simon Cowell’s “X Factor.” There was also a performance from trio Il Volo.
