Haley Reinhart the comeback story of the season managed three breaks this Wednesday and the singer grabbed each and made the most of every one to give herself every chance at reaching the finale.
Reinhart sang last in all three rounds. First, a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “What Is and What Should Never Be,” add the story of her dad playing onstage with her meaning this week her first cover unlike the previous weeks was the unanimous selection as that round’s winner by the judges.
Rehnhart's second a version of Stevie Nicks “Rhiannon,” was technically classical. but Randy was more intrigued by the wind machine on stage.
For her third song, the judges choice gifted Reinhart the opportunity to showcase her range by choosing Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know,” and Reinhart delivered..
Reinhart has turned into the best artist among the three remaining finalists, and she is willing to take risks to demonstrate her vocal skills. This is what caused her to struggle early in the competition but now she has found herself she is turning in consistent top level performances.
The judges meanwhile in voting that was surely unbiased and not designed at all to influence any voters had Reinhart take round one. Scotty McCreery won round two (thanks to a vote from mentor Jimmy Iovine, and Lauren Alaina round three.
Alaina struggled the most this week, fluffing part of her “If I Die Young” cover, but pulled back some points with “I Hope You Dance.”
McCreery's performances this week lacked any conviction his tributes to Lonestar, Thompson Square and Kenny Rogers were memorable for being forgettable .but he should make the finale.
Beyonce gave the final three singers some advice heading into the penultimate week before the Idol audience got to see the debut of her new video.
