Thursday night results show brought about another eviction as five dropped down to four. The 23-year-old wannabe Idol from Compton, California, was revealed by host Ryan Seacrest to have received the fewest viewer votes this week.
I think his nerves are getting the best of him
On Wednesdays show Lusk had performed two songs attempting both parts of 'No Air' a duet originally released by former Idol contestant Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown, Lusk followed this with an emotional rendition of Love Hurts, the classic made famous by Nazareth and Roy Orbison. Lusk's attempted solo duet was a failure and even though his version of 'Love hurts' was far better it was never going to be enough to pull the audience on side.
After receiving the bad news Jacob said "I got to share a little bit with America, and I think America's fallen in love with me," then again not enough to keep him on the show. Lusk added "Now I can go and put out that good-feeling R&B music that reminds you of Luther or those great old singers."
Other struggler from Wednesday 16-year-old Lauren Alaina joined Jacob as one of the bottom two vote-getters. Alania had impressed the Idol judges with her performances of Carrie Underwood's Flat On The Floor which failed to enthuse the audience but fortunately her stunning version of the Righteous Brothers' Unchained Melody was enough to pull her back into favour with the voting public.
Mentor Jimmy Iovine put Lusks failure to proceed in the contest down to nerves saying "Jacob had a rough night last night," adding "I think his nerves are getting the best of him."
So Scotty McCreery, James Durbin, Haley Reinhart, and Lauren Alaina head one step closer to becoming the 10th seasons Idol champion to be crowned during the May 26 finale.
