Miley Cyrus

American Idol - second final Crystal Bowersox was good, Siobhan Magnus was excellent while Paige Miles was bad and Tim Urban well just as bad, the rest just failed to make an impression.

The big story of the night was guest mentor, Miley Cyrus, showing that she has grown up and left her Hannah Motana roots behind.

Surprisingly Ms Cyrus offered some quality advice, Andrew Garcia for one - she told put the guitar down, I must admit it is becoming an annoyance this season as almost everyone hides behind an instrument, maybe thats why they are failing to show stage presence and why they are all blending into one dull offering.. Just a thought.

Though I might add Miley agreed with me in the case of Lee Dewyze, saying, "Lee, I think, has an amazing voice. The only thing that is lacking sometimes is stage presence.", even if she was being generous by including the word sometimes.

Aaron Kelly after admitting to having a sang "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" Aaron looked to play the sympathy card this week as the king of 'drone' Ryan Seacrest  told everyone he had laryngitis and tonsillitis time and time again.

Crystal. what can we say she had Miley sign her guitar- yes yet another guitar and then Crystal sang "Me and Bobby McGee" to be fair it was a good  performance and Simon Cowell gushed that it was as good as the Pink, what ever you do Simon don't say that on front of the pale red one she might not appreciate the competition.

Siobhan Magnus vamped it up onstage, and brought out her usual scream in "Superstition." a superb performance though she should consider leaving a scream out every now and then.

Michael Lynche tried to make Kara DioGuardi cry again by singing "When an Man Loves a Woman," but this time he failed, Casey James covered Huey Lewis and the News’ "The Power of Love" Kara gushed , just why escapes me at the moment.

Didi Benami sang "You're No Good," tempting fate as it aptly described her performance, Katie Stevens labelled the Dakota Fanning of "Idol?" by Ellen sang Faerie’s "Big Girls Don't Cry." she could soon be crying.

Tim sang Queen’s "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," which did not sit well with the judges but perversely Kara tried to criticise him by comparing him to Zac Efron,

Paige tried "Against All Odds" - least said about that the better Simon felt she had decided to stop competing, my guess its between Paige and Tim as to who leaves by the side door.
