Lacey Brown

Lacey Brown

So it was Lacey Brown getting sent home, not really a surprise though we do like her but she didn't shine this week and has struggled to find her rhythm while on the show, but Lacey was not the worst performer by any means this week, and we do love her because she does bring something to the show.

It was also hard to disagree with Paige Miles or Tim Urban being in the bottom three as neither turned out an 'Idol' performance. But they survived Miles had already played the 'sick note' card she had laryngitis on the day prior to the live performances and Urban's reggae version although a total flop did warrant credit for trying something different. So on the whole America got it right this week!

The show length needs a radical rethink nobody needs to endure almost an hour of padding although Ke$ha's spot was a nice element, maybe Ryan should curb his incessant chatter. Orianthi performed "According to You," ok and David Cook, again ok  but that took about 15 minutes but that's commercialism for you.

So back to Ryan Seacrest and his time consuming pointless questions, to the acts who mostly can only stumble around for the right combination of answers to satisfy him before they make a rapid and somewhat embarrassed exit.

So week one of the finals went pretty much as expected.
