American Idol - This week was "Songs of the Cinema" night, and it should come as no surprise Crystal Bowersox who last week received criticism from the judges came back with an outstanding performance.
Bowersox performed a hit-worthy cover of "I'm Alright" from the movie "Caddyshack," that had Simon Cowell convinced she was back in the game.
Bowersox was more the star, her solo with a duet with Lee Dewyze, singing "Falling Slowly" was also pitch perfect and the pair sounded good together and her duet was a huge boost for Dewyze,
Dewyze sang a solo version of Seal’s "Kiss From a Rose." a risky choice at best and to be honest he did not really pull this off, and Jamie Foxx's motivational techniques, as guest mentor to Lee consisted of getting about an inch from Dewyze’s face at their rehearsal session, leaving Dewyze wondering whether Foxx was a genius or a maniac. But overall Dewyze should be fine.
Michael Lynche though has had better weeks. He performed Michael Jackson’s "Will You Be There," badly and for this stage of the contest unfortunately it just wasn't good enough.
His duet partner, Casey James was .. different, for him. He sang "Mrs. Robinson," reigniting the has he got a thing for Kara story line that seemed to have faded out a while ago, but it may help him by making him more interesting.. then again maybe not, it is a singing talent contest not a dating show
Ellen, who has struggled to remain relevant did put her best quip of the season so far when she said of Lynche and Casey James following their duet, "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman" by Bryan Adams. "As a matter of fact, yes I have loved a woman," she said. Take that, Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
So on a week when no one really suffered at the judges hands the result is unpredictable, but Lynche and James look vulnerable, an easy choice when you consider Bowersox and Dewyze are the other two.
