American Idol - Finals We were treated to two hours of wannabe talent as the shows final twelve took to the stage can they deliver two whole hours of enthralling entertainment ?

The hopefuls had to cover Rolling Stones tunes, so on a two hour show the early contestants had to produce memorable performances if the audience were to vote for them.

Tuesday was one of those nights where it might just come down to the end-of-the-show recap and Oh, well yeah, he did turn up, or now I remember she was 'pitchy' These are episodes where Idol get it wrong because everyone blends together unless they really stand out, for good or even bad.

So what did Tuesday produce well nobody dire enough to be the certainty for the ride home, next who was certainly on the way through, well that's easy again no - one. Once again stage presence was missing.

Then again maybe I am being too harsh Siobhan Magnus did sang "Paint It Black" and I must admit the hairs on my arms stood up this girl has real talent now she needs to combine this with my favourite  phrase stage presence!

Crystal Bowersox - disappointed  although she turned in a reasonable version of "You Can't Always Get What You Want" she was way below her best especially with a track that could have been made for her style. She needs to sort herself out and quickly.

Simon Cowell said she has to learn that "just when you think you've got the competition in your pocket, you've got to dig deep week after week and you've got to kill,".

Michael Lynche he open the show with "Miss You," sang well enough that everyone who liked him before won't change their minds so he should be safe, I thought the only reason he was remembered was because he opened.

Those three were the best of a pretty poor set of Stones covers Didi Benami's version of "Play With Fire," was a gulf away from the pace Casey James "It's All Over Now" and Lee Dewyze "Beast of Burden" were at best safe though uninspiring.

Andrew Garcia cannot remember his "Gimme Shelter." though Ellen loved it the real 'musical' judges Simon and Randy weren't a fans, and Kara thought it he did the job but only just.

Lacey Brown - now here is a puzzle Randy was pleasantly surprised with her "Ruby Tuesday" together. She just did not get the arrangement right too slow too depressing, but I like her she may not be the strongest singer in the show but she does know how to work the camera and stage Simon labelled her performance as that of an actress, so sadly it looks like presence will not make up for a weak performance and Lacey may be going home..

The two kids pleased the judges why remains an unanswered question Randy compared Aaron Kelly's "Angie" to Justin Timberlake, which begs the question who was Randy watching? Katie Stevens dispatched "Wild Horses," with the skill of a karaoke singer.

Paige Miles, at least did have an excuse this week with practically no voice on the lead up to the live show, (laryngitis) she lacked rehearsal time so "Honky Tonk Woman," did not really become honey tonk, the judges were never the less kind to her.

Tim Urban was not even in the park, Under My Thumb was one that I remembered but for all the wrong reasons.

Lets see what the voting public make of things come Wednesdays results show, especially as recent results have shown the audience did not seem to have grasped the 'vote for the most talented' concept of the show
