Starting with the poor Andrew Garcia was just awful his version of "Can't Buy Me Love" sucked - karaoke like and what was it with the 1950's hair style.
Then we had Aaron Kelly, his "Long and Winding Road" sounded like a long and winding song according to Ellen Katie Stevens will also be uncomfortable following her version of Let It Be to be honest she should have left it alone and picked a Macca song that could be more contemporary.
Siobhan Magnus, the only other real contender for the winners title obliged the judges request last week when they told her not to scream, Magnus produced a perfect version of "Across the Universe" that was completely out of her 'rocker' comfort zone.
Smiling Tim Urban actually received praise from the judges after singing "All My Loving," though it may be a ploy to fool his supporters into noticing his faults... somehow I think not. But credit to Urban he did improve this week.
Lee Dewze was pretty average this week but his stage presence was apparent aided by a bagpipe player to accompany his "Hey Jude." an odd choice but who knows?
Michael Lynche over sang "Eleanor Rigby," but he should be fine, while Casey James with "Jealous Guy" worked a safe if forgettable version, drawing Ellen to comment "You have a great voice. And pretty hair."
The best of the night belonged to Crystal Bowersox who sang "Come Together," a safe choice but her performance was superb. Despite suffering with a bit of cold, it was perfect although maybe the didgeridoo was unnecessary but it did not distract from the performance.
As is Idols want this season to fill the two hour show with extended video intros, this week they featured the finalists talking about each other. The clips were full of mutual love and admiration with Andrew Garcia and Lee Dewyze, who have been pals since Hollywood.
When Dewyze came to close the show, the video clip saw the rest of the finalists commenting on their closeness. "I'm so glad that (Lee and Andrew) can be together and get married and have lots of little Danny Gokey babies," Bowersox was heard to comment... classic.
