I Can't Sing writer Harry Hill
The cast of 'I Can't Sing - The X Factor Musical' admitted they would never audition for the TV series and claim that success within the music industry feels more "special" if you work for it.
West End stars Cynthia Erivo and Alan Morrissey - who play aspiring singers in Harry Hill's spoof of the ITV show - have argued that while the talent show promises pop stardom, success within the music industry feels more "special" if you work for it.
Cynthia told Digital Spy: "I wouldn't want to go that way, I'm quite satisfied with how my career's going - I know it's harder [but] I just prefer it like this,
"I guess when you know that you've worked for something really hard and you get the result, there's a special sort of [satisfaction]. When you know you've got it for yourself, it's just nice."
The musical takes a series of comical jibes at the long-running talent competition, but Cynthia claims the story offers more than a few laughs.
She mused: "I think there's a real heart to the story. I think that although there's loads of jokes and laughs, the people are still human."
Alan also claimed the production shouldn't cause offence explaining that Harry Hill intended for the script to remain light-hearted.
He added: "Harry loves the show as well. You can feel his heart behind it. He's sort of taking the p*** on the behalf of the nation."
'X Factor' fans will get to watch 'I Can't Sing - The X Factor Musical' performed on stage for the first time when the Royal Variety Performance airs on ITV in December.
