Kelly Macdonald is set to star in a new BBC drama influenced by the horrific murder of Jamie Bulger.
In 1993, the two-year-old boy was killed by 10-year-olds Jon Venables and Robert Thompson, and 25 years on 'The Victim' is set to follow a similarly tragic story.
The upcoming programme sees the 'Goodbye Christopher Robin' star play the mother of a 15-year-old boy who murdered a nine-year-old boy, and campaign for the killer's identity to be revealed.
She finds herself accused of exposing his new name online, and police officer DI Grover - played by John Hannah - will investigate.
Speaking about the show, which is set in Edinburgh, he said: "It is great to be back filming in Scotland, especially as writer Rob Williams has delivered in DI Grover an exquisitely drawn character.
"On first appearance he seems pretty straightforward but I'm pleased to report that audiences will soon find out that this is far from the case."
Family man Craig - played by rising star James Harkness - will be the focus of 'The Victim' after he is branded a child murderer online, and the actor is looking forward to taking on the challenging role.
He added: "The character of Craig gives me a fantastic opportunity to play someone faced with incredible circumstances.
"I feel very lucky to be telling this story. I just can't wait to start."
The four-part series will air on BBC One.
