With the news earlier this month that Superman would be properly introduced during the second season of Supergirl, which is now housed on The CW network after a move from CBS, rumours were flying about just who might take up the role.

Now it's been officially revealed that Teen Wolf actor Tyler Hoechlin is that man who will be guest-starring in the first two episodes of the new season when it returns later this year.
Though Superman has been seen in the Supergirl series before, it's always been at angles which have obstructed his face, so his real-life identity has been kept a secret.
Supergirl showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said of the casting: "[Executive producer] Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman.
"We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character."
Supergirl is expected to return in its regular timeslot but on its new home The CW this fall.
