The Flash is the superhero all of Central City has been waiting for it would seem, as a brand new clip for the second season of the series has been revealed, showing Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) receiving the key to the city just before Atom Smasher (Adam 'Edge' Copeland) makes his villainous debut.
With 'Flash Day' in full swing before the party crasher turns up to flip the day on its head, it looks as if the civilians who have been saved time and time again by the Scarlet Speedster are actually thankful for his services - something we don't see often in shows and movies of this genre.
Just one more day stands between Americans and their Flash fix, with the show kicking off its sophomore season on The CW today (October 6) at 8/7c.
The debut episode of season two will pick up things around six months on following the events that occured during the season one finale, so viewers can expect to see the lengthy effects those events had on Central City and its inhabitants.
An official synopsis for episode one reads: "Picking up months after the Singularity attacked Central City, Barry is still struggling to forgive himself for Eddie's death. Concerned about putting his friends in danger, Barry has pushed everyone away and has chosen to protect the city on his own. When a meta-human named Atom Smasher (guest star Adam Copeland) attacks the city, Iris tells Barry that he needs to let his friends help him protect the citizens of Central City. Meanwhile, Cisco helps Joe with his Meta Task Force."
Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Jessie L. Martin, Candice Patton, John Wesley Shipp and Tom Cavanagh all return for the second season.
Fans in the UK can catch up with the action when The Flash returns to Sky1 on October 13 at 8pm.
